A Prayer for Today
Lord, my father!
Now peace in my heart is going away
Because the law of the world is too heavy to bear,
Let me not forget your teaching and my heart keep your commandments
And let my mind is filled with peace given not by the world but by you.
Now love and faithfulness on earth can hardly be found,
Let me put your love and faithfulness in my mind and write them on the tablet of my heart
And let me find favor and good repute in the sight of God and of people.
Now arrogance of the world is so quite blatant
That even they keep going to treat the creatures in their own way,
Let me not rely on my own insight and ask you before whatever I do
And let me trust in the Lord with all my heart.
Show me the way to go, Make straight my paths.
Now human beings on earth are likely to boast about work they build up themselves,
Let me not be wise in my own eyes and fear the Lord
And let me honor the Lord with my substance and with the first fruits of all my produce.
Show me your plenty my life is filled with.
Lord, my father!
There is something I have to do today,
I promise to do whatever you ask me to do not in my way.
Only let me know your will and way.
